Slippin' Away (Asylum 1976)

   La carriera solista di Chris Hillman viene spesso sottovalutata rispetto ai periodi passati insieme a tanti gruppi storici. Questo é un vero peccato perché il suo disco d'esordio é un vero gioellino musicale, ricco di brani incredibilmente piacevoli. Sia ben chiaro che siamo nel campo del country-rock più lineare ed orecchiabile, ma le delicate melodie, le perfette armonie vocali e gli ottimi musicisti fanno di questo disco un imperdibile nel suo genere. Hillman scrive quasi tutte le canzoni alternando pezzi tirati come "Step on out" e "Take it on the run" a splendide ballate, tra le quali spiccano "Blue morning", "Falling again" e l'ottima title-track. Le uniche due canzoni che non portano la sua firma sono la buona "Witching hour" di Stephen Stills e la raffinata "Love is the sweetest amnesty" di Danny Douma, forse il miglior brano dell'album.
