Phillip Francis Stumpo

    Cantautore nato a San Francisco, Phillip Francis Stumpo incide a proprio nome un solo album nel 1982. L'artista scrive tutti i brani del disco presentandoci un pop raffinato ricco di tante influenze. Si parte con le venature jazz di "Losing your taste for it all" e "Dont' hold back your loving", si incontrano i ritmi sostenuti di "Lying next to me" e "One man circus", la swingante "Pamela" e quā e lā ballate interpretate con voce da crooner come "For a special lady", "Changes", "The man she sees in me" e "Now they say you're leaving". Ma il pezzo migliore arriva sul finale con "Just a matter of time", bel medio tempo nel classico stile pop californiano di fine anni '70. In alcuni momenti l'album potrebbe risultare eccessivamente melodico ma nel complesso č un gradevole prodotto che verrā apprezzato da chi ama artisti come Kenny Rankin e Michael Franks. Il vinile, pubblicato in poche copie dalla piccola etichetta Billetdoux, č una vera raritā ma fortunatamenteil lavoro č stato recentemente ristampato in cd con l'aggiunta di tre brani inediti.
