Airplay (RCA 1980)

     Supergruppo formato da due famosissimi produttori di musica west coast quali Jay Graydon e David Foster dalla cui collaborazione nasce un solo lavoro pubblicato nel 1980. Il disco viene considerato un caposaldo di questo genere musicale ma, andando controcorrente, devo dire che forse é troppo osannato soltanto per il nome degli autori e dei musicisti che vi prendono parte. Il sound è molto carico, con arrangiamenti a volte eccessivi e pezzi che sconfinano nell'AOR più pomposo. Tra i brani spiccano "After the love is gone" già nota nella versione degli Earth, Wind & Fire, "Nothin' you can do about it" presente anche in "Extensions"(1979) dei Manhattan Transfer, la bella ballata "Should we carry on" e la notevole "She waits for me", scritta e cantata da Jay Graydon. Per quanto riguarda il resto, esistono canzoni migliori scritte dalla coppia Graydon/Foster e anche il lead vocalist Tommy Funderburk non é certamente il massimo. Sicuramente un disco da possedere, ma non é il capolavoro che molti dicono che sia.
